| Brothers and Sisters, I would like to commend our
members on a job well done at Counce & Greenville. Manning all of
the work. There may be work at Ackerman, Cargill, & Valero. In order
to get the work we need qualified and willing members to man the
work. Shorter jobs need to be worked to get longer ones. Please
continue to focus on being leaders on the job sites and being
professional in our work. This is a brotherhood and there should be
more involvement by each member to help the apprentices and new
members in showing them what to do and what not to do. Our members
need to become more involved politically. Due to the fact of the
attack of Union Labors, jumping from job to job and absenteeism
needs to come to a halt. The new nationwide referral system will
bring change in this area. Along with that, the new referral system
will require that a member have all safety classes and either a
written test or Common Arc Certifications to be on the primary list
so each of these classes will be available this winter. I encourage
each member to attend the monthly union meetings.
The hall will be open for 2 weeks prior to Common Arc for practice.
The dates are December 26-30 and January 2-6. Getting certified is
important in upgrading skills.
The Paul Wedge Competition will be held at our local in July so we
may need help cleaning and preparing the hall.
We will have new stickers in soon.
Again, this newsletter is one more way of communicating with you. If
you have any ideas or suggestions, please bring them to our
attention. Be sure to look at the calendar on the back of this
issue. I would like to remind you that SecurTrust Credit Union is
less hassle for loans and they are more personal than most banks.
They have an understanding of our work schedule and income.
